On-Set Van Hire Per Hour: The Ultimate Guide

Introduction

On-set van hire per hour has become an invaluable resource for filmmakers and production teams. Whether you're working on a feature film, a television series, or a commercial shoot, having access to the right vehicles can make all the difference. This guide will explore the benefits, considerations, and frequently asked questions surrounding on-set van hire.

The Benefits of On-Set Van Hire

Hiring a van on an hourly basis offers numerous advantages:

Flexibility

One of the primary benefits of hourly van hire is flexibility. Productions often run on tight schedules with unexpected changes. Hiring a van by the hour means you can adjust plans as needed without being tied to a full-day rental rate.

Cost-Effective

For short-term needs, hiring a van per hour can be more economical than a daily rental. This is particularly beneficial for smaller shoots or specific tasks, such as transporting equipment or crew members for a brief period.

Accessibility

Many van hire companies offer a range of vehicles, from small vans to larger transport options. This variety allows you to choose the right vehicle for your specific needs, whether you require a simple van for gear transport or a larger vehicle for transporting cast and crew.

Convenience

On-set van hire companies often provide delivery and pick-up services, allowing you to focus on your production without worrying about vehicle logistics. This convenience is crucial during busy shooting days.

Key Considerations When Hiring a Van

While on-set van hire offers many benefits, there are essential factors to consider:

Type of Van

Evaluate the type of van you need based on your specific requirements. Consider the amount of equipment you need to transport, the number of crew members, and any special features required, such as shelving or additional security.

Insurance and Liability

Ensure that you understand the insurance coverage provided by the rental company. Verify whether you need additional coverage, especially if the vehicle will be used extensively during the shoot.

Duration of Hire

While hourly rates are convenient, be mindful of potential minimum hire durations. Some companies may have policies that affect pricing or availability, so clarify these details before finalising your booking.

Booking in Advance

Due to the high demand for van hire in the film industry, it’s advisable to book your vehicle in advance. This practice ensures you secure the right vehicle for your production schedule.

Fuel Policy

Check the fuel policy of the rental agreement. Different companies have varying requirements regarding refueling before returning the vehicle, which can impact your overall costs.
